Dear Leader

The Ten Virgins

Matthew 25:1-13

This parable illustrates the absolute importance of being spiritually alive. The bridegroom being Jesus, the bride His church, the wise virgins being alive spiritually - true disciples faithfully chasing the heart of God and the foolish virgins those having the outward appearance of spiritual life but are not truly seeking after God with their whole hearts - formalistic christians!

1. Bring the meaning of this parable into today's situation. Generally speaking would you say the bride is ready for the coming of the groom? What are some of the actions the bride can take to ensure her readiness?
2. Knowing that the wise and foolish virgins represent the state of their spiritual health. What general comparisons can we make with the state of believers spiritual health today?
3. It's all about the oil!! The availability of oil is the key difference between the wise and foolish virgins. The oil represents the presence of God in our lives. The oil represents the presence of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit that keeps the flame alive! The oil is purchased so it comes at a cost. The cost is time in His presence - deep, sincere, loving, wholehearted relationship with Him!
4. There is an urgency about being ready! What can we do to be ready? Do you believe it takes corporate action or a personal effort to be ready? Explain

Be ready - Trim your lamp: Fill it with oil, trim the wick and light it!

Kind Regards
