Dear Leader,

Life Group Guideline

Theme - A love for God's Word

Bible Reading Plan information.

Remind your group of our Reading through the New Testament goal as a church, and encourage them to commit to joining in.

Ask them to download the YouVersion Bible app during the week and then to set a reminder to search for and start the Growing in God's Word #NT260 reading plan that will be available on the 4th of February. It is important that they start the plan on the 4th of February so that they can read in sync with the whole church.

Opening Prayer:

Ask one of your Life Group members to open in prayer.

Icebreaker:

What is your favorite verse in the Bible? What is your favorite book in the Bible?

Worship:

Suggestions:
- First (Brian Doerksen)
- We will not be shaken (Bethel)
- Deep in love with you (Michael W Smith)

Daniel 11:32

The people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.

1. We need to cultivate a deep love for God's Word within our hearts.

One of our values at CHOOSE LIFE Church is 'A love for God's Word.'
Remind your group of the power of example. What you model in the home is so important in terms of what your kids will learn from you. Are they seeing you read the Word?

Read:
Psalm 1:1-3 (NKJV)
Psalm 119:103
Psalm 19:10
Psalm 119:1-16

Discussion 1: What stands out for you from these verses?

2. God's Word is life to you

Exposing ourselves to God's Word should be part of our lifestyle

Read:
Deuteronomy 8:3 and Luke 4:4
Proverbs 4:20-22
Romans 12:2

We need to LIVE by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
Some people's spirits are starving? They sense something is not right in their lives but they are not sure what? Could it be that they are not feeding on the Word. Our spirit man needs to be healthy and flourishing.

Charles Spurgeon
A Bible that is falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn't.

Discussion 2: Share about a time in your life when you were consumed by God's Word? Of a time where you were reading the Word daily and applying the scriptures to your life?

3. God's Word brings out our true beauty.

Read Ephesians 5:25-27
Discuss the process of sanctification and how God's Word washes over us, and cleanses us, and helps us to become more and more like Jesus in thought and deed.

Story of missionary Alexander Duff that went through 2 shipwrecks, and how the only thing he recovered from the wreck was his Bible. He was delighted and could start a Bible study which grew and grew.

Discussion 3: How can we make reading God's Word a matter of delight? Ask people to share things that help them in their daily quiet times?

Prayer ministry:

Pray over people who struggle to read God's Word. Take authority over any spirits of laziness or distractions. Ask God to open their spiritual eyes and to cause His Word to burn in their hearts.

Regards
