Dear Leader,

Life Group Guideline

Leaders, please do us a favour and ask your Life Group members to make every effort to take note of visitors that receive the visitors envelopes handed out during the welcoming at church. We would love for all the visitors to be greeted, and where possible for a Shepherd, Life Group leader, or Life Group member to approach them after the service and have a brief chat with them. Thanks so much!

Theme - Commitment

Opening Prayer:

Share about something that you have undertaken in your life that took a lot of commitment to complete?

#NT260 Check in:

Go round your group and give each person 1 minute to share something that they have learned about God, or something that the Lord has spoken to them about in their New Testament Bible readings over the past few days.

1. Reading the New Testament in 260 days is going to take commitment to complete. Reflect briefly on Joshua Roebert who at the age of 13 read the whole Bible in two years. When asked how he did it he mentioned, that it was something he felt to do and he set some goals and stuck to them. When you think of the word commitment, what comes to mind?

2. Read Matthew 1:1-16 and ask the group to identify people in the genealogy of Jesus that are role models of commitment. (Think of Abraham, Ruth, David etc.)

3. Read the story of the Magi in Matthew 2 and have a discussion on the commitment that they displayed in travelling from afar to find the Messiah. Also discuss their motive for finding Him which was to worship Him.

4. Reflect on how Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. Talk about the commitment that it takes to fast for 40 days and 40 nights. Besides for reading God's Word, what other disciplines does the Lord want to be part of our lives (e.g. fasting, prayer, service). Discuss the benefits of commitment, and how Christ's fasting and prayer and knowledge of the Word helped Him to resist the devil's temptation.

Prayer ministry:

Prayer for those in need. Prayer for those struggling to be disciplined or committed in terms of spiritual things. Really trust the Lord for fresh strength regarding these.
