Dear Leader

Welcome to term 3. May the Lord bless you, and may His presence abide in your heart, in your home and in your LG meetings. I have spoken to a few LG leaders that have been saying their members are eager for life group to start again. So while the official start for life groups is next week, here is a brief guideline for those who have had their arms twisted to start again a bit earlier.

Baptism Service

This Sunday the 22nd of July, during both services, we will be conducting Baptisms in our new baptismal pool in the Baobab hall. Please will you give your LG members a call or send them a whatsapp message to encourage those that haven't been baptised to join us this Sunday. They need to bring a change of clothes and a towel and meet in the Baobab Hall at 7:45am or 9:45am. It would be great if you can send an email to info@chooselifechurch.com so that we can know who to expect and at which service they would like to get baptised.

Leaders Meeting

We are looking forward to our Leaders meeting next Tuesday (24 July). We only have four meetings per year so please make every effort to be there. Come a bit early as we will be serving soup and bread from 7pm.

Herewith the Life Group Guideline for this week.

How is it going with your Bible reading plan? Encourage those who have fallen behind to start reading in Galatians and to catch up their other reading over time. That way they can read with the rest of the church as we enter into the home stretch.

Theme – Radically transformed by Grace
There are so many opinions about grace and the law. Grace means unmerited favour, undeserved favour. Grace refers to a free gift. Jesus is grace personified. He is proof of God's grace to us.
Transformation means a startling change of the form and appearance and character of a person. We live in an autonomous society where people decide for themselves what is right or wrong. Yet in Titus 2:11-12 we read "For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age"
God's grace leads to a radically transformed life. Consider the following examples.
Read 1 Corinthians 15:9-10.
Paul persecuted the church. In Acts 8 we read how he approved of the stoning of Stephen. In Acts 9 he had a murderous desire against the followers of Jesus. But he had an encounter with the Lord and experienced God's grace, and was radically transformed from a persecutor of the church to a preacher of the good news.
In Luke 19:1-10 we read about Zacchaeus the tax collector who had become rich by cheating people. Yet he wanted to see Jesus, so climbed a tree. Jesus saw him and invited himself to lunch at Zacchaeus home. And Zacchaeus welcomed Jesus joyfully. The Lord extended grace to him and his life was transformed. Zacchaeus gave half of his wealth to the poor and restored 4 fold to people that he had cheated.
Blind Bartimaeus
In Mark 10:46-52 we read about Blind Bartimaeus. He cried out for mercy from the Lord and Jesus healed him and restored his sight. Bartimaeus's life was radically transformed.
Samaritan woman
In John 4 Jesus speaks to the woman and offers her living water. He extends grace to her despite her broken past and background. She was an outcast in the community, but when she received His grace her life was transformed and she left her jar, walked back into the town and told them about Jesus. She became an evangelist and many of the townsfolk believed because of her testimony.
Discussion Questions
1. What is your grace story? (Take time on this point and allow your LG members to share their testimonies of how the grace of Christ has transformed, or is transforming, their life)
2. Which of the examples shared stood out for you and why? (Paul, Zacchaeus, Bartimaeus, The Samaritan woman)
3. Where does The Lord's grace find you today?
• In a place of unforgiveness, anger, loneliness, heartsore, sickness, distance from God.
• In a place of intimacy with the Lord, spiritual growth, fruitful ministry
• A few of the above.
Christ's grace will find you at your point of need. And His grace can transform your life.
Prayer ministry:
Have a time of open prayer and encourage group members to pray in line with the message.
