Life Group Guidelines!
The dictionary definition of a disciple is " a person who is a pupil or adherent to the doctrines of another; a follower" and the greek definition is from the word (mathetes), coming to English by way of the Latin discipulus meaning "a learner". We are all as born again believers, called to be disciples of Christ. Most of us can also testify of at least one person who discipled us towards a closer relationship with Jesus. The importance of our role in discipling others towards a closer relationship with God can not be underestimated, IT MATTERS!! In fact it is the greatest calling Jesus made before returning to the Father. We are to go-whether it is next door or to another country and make disciples.
Theme scriptures:
Matthew 28:19-20
Discuss the following:
  1. Share testimonies of people who discipled you especially in your early walk as a Christian and what impact did they have in terms of teaching you and helping you to grow in your walk with God?
  2. Discuss the similarity between discipling someone and the term we hear so often today mentorship?
  3. What role can we as a Life Group play in terms of discipling others?
  4. Lets identify people in our area who would benefit from being discipled by our Life Group and lets put together a strategy to reach out to them.
Whatever strategy you put together as a Life Group must be discussed, followed up and regular feedback given in the Life Group meetings. Make discipleship of others part of the culture of your group. Make it a focus point of regular prayer. At the appropriate time let your group know that as a result of reaching out and gathering in the harvest it would mean a multiplication of the Life Group as it will get to big. Make them comfortable with the fact that multiplication is something to be excited about not feared - REACHING OUT AND MAKING DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS IS THE CALL!
